Although primarily a salmon and trout fishing holiday company, here at Fly South we can offer a complete Patagonia travel adventure.
The area we cover is on the Eastern side of the Andes and considered as the Argentine lake district. It offers beautiful landscapes with pristine lakes, mountains, rivers, forests and valleys, much of which is designated national parkland with development limited to recreational and sporting purposes. The infrastructure is therefore focused on camping, hiking and trekking, sports fishing and hunting, white-water rafting and other water sports, cycling and mountain biking, horse-riding, skiing and even rock-climbing. The area is replete with wildlife and flora creating that magical backcountry feel so conducive to the outdoor adventure experience.
If you wish to organise horse-riding, walking or trekking tours, or any other activities just contact us with your requirements and we will be happy to provide suggestions and itineraries. Our long experience in organising Patagonia travel means we know the best places and the best people to ensure a great vacation.
So what fish can you expect to catch? The fly fishing in and around Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi and Parque Nacional Los Alerces is exceptional. One can practice flycasting, trolling and spinning in lake or river and the fish are strong and plentiful. Of the introduced species there is fishing for European brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout and landlocked Atlantic salmon. You will also encounter native species of perch, pejerry, puyen and peladilla, but these are not our target as our fishing guides will make sure that it is the big fish every fly fisherman wants to catch that we will find.
